2006 CGS Awards

Canadian Geriatrics Society Distinguished Service Award

The CGS presents the Distinguished Service Award at its Annual Scientific Meeting to recognize the contributions of an individual who has done much for the health care of older adults in Canada. The award will be presented during the CGS Annual General Meeting on Saturday, April 22, 2006, 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm.

Kaufman Prize

The Kaufman Prize is awarded for the best scientific presentation by a Fellow in a subspecialty (or year of added competence) fellowship training program at the CGS Annual Scientific Meeting. The winner of this $1,000 prize will be announced upon completion of the Kaufman, CIHR-IA, Thompson Prize Paper Sessions, which will take place on Saturday, April 22, 2006, 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm.

Canadian Institutes of Health Research – Institute of Aging Prize in Geriatrics

The Canadian Institutes of Health Research – Institute of Aging Prize in Geriatrics is financed by the CIHR Institute of Aging and the winner selected in partnership with CGS. A $1,000 prize is awarded for the best scientific presentation by a Medical Resident in a core (or primary) residency training program at the CGS Annual Scientific Meeting. The winner will be announced upon completion of the Kaufman, CIHR-IA, Thompson Prize Paper Sessions, which will take place on Saturday, April 22, 2006, 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm.

Dr. Willard and Phebe Thompson Award

The Thompson Award is awarded for the best scientific presentation by a Medical Student at the CGS Annual Scientific Meeting. The winner of this $500 award will be announced upon completion of the Kaufman, CIHR-IA, Thompson Prize Paper Sessions, which will take place on Saturday, April 22, 2006, 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm.

Canadian Institutes of Health Research – Institute of Aging Travel Grants

Three travel grants valued at $500 each are financed by the CIHR Institute of Aging. They are available for Fellows, Residents and Medical Students who are CGS Members and would not otherwise be able to attend the CGS Annual Scientific Meeting.
