The 2006 Annual Scientific Meeting took place from April 20 to 22 at the Sutton Place Hotel in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
The theme of the meeting was “Celebrating Excellence in Geriatric Care,” a timely theme as we celebrated the 25th anniversary of the CGS. The exciting program appealed to Geriatricians, Geriatric Psychiatrists, Family Physicians, specialists in Internal Medicine, Pharmacists, Geriatric Nurses, researchers in aging, and other allied health professionals with an interest in the clinical care of older persons. In particular, invited fellows in the fields of Geriatric Medicine, Care of Elderly, and Geriatric Psychiatry, residents in Internal Medicine and Family Medicine, and medical students to join us in this extraordinary educational and networking experience.
The meeting featured four international keynote speakers and 24 distinguished speakers from Canada and beyond. These leaders in Geriatrics shared their expertise over a broad range of topics that are relevant to the clinical care of older persons, with ample opportunity for active audience participation. There was an audience response system (Touch Pad technology) in place for selected sessions. Delegates enjoyed close interaction with colleagues, international and national leaders and attended plenary sessions and symposia, core curriculum sessions, meet the experts’ forum, scientific paper and poster sessions.
