Come join us at the 2007 Annual Meeting of the Canadian Geriatrics Society. With the assistance of the Canadian Cardiovascular Society, CIHR – Institute of Aging, the Consortium of Canadian Centres for Clinical Cognitive Research (C5R) and the National Initiative for the Care of the Elderly (NICE) a wide ranging program spanning from the cell to society has been developed. Professor Ian Philp (National Director for Older People’s Services and Neurological Conditions, Department of Health, England) is a special guest who will offer us an overseas perspective. You’ll hear about the latest developments in the management of congestive heart failure, delirium, dementia, diabetes mellitus and falls. State of the art reviews on assisted living, the biology of aging and frailty will be presented. There will be opportunities to develop new clinical skills and share experiences with colleagues from across the country. Hear of the latest aging research being conducted in Canada.

This year’s conference is being held in Banff, a year-round resort town 80 miles west of Calgary in the World Heritage Site of Banff National Park. Banff offers an intimate and unique environment with the potential to surprise and delight. It is small enough that one can walk everywhere, yet it supports many amenities such as restaurants, shops, and galleries in its spectacular setting.

The Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel provides a stunning fairy-tale setting for this year’s Conference. It was designed by Bruce Price and built for William Cornelius Van Horne from 1886 to 1888 as a luxury hideaway for the patrons of the Canadian Pacific Railway. Set in the splendor of Alberta’s Banff National Park, it evokes the look and feel of a Scottish baronial castle but provides enticing modern services such as the Willow Stream Spa. The meeting rooms offer spectacular views while the common areas and terraces provide ample comfortable nooks for conversations or impromptu meetings. It is the perfect place for a professional retreat.

All the elements are in place for a fantastic conference – except one! We need you! We look forward to sharing Banff with each of you in April 2007. Please join us for a memorable conference.
