Canadian Journal of Geriatrics (formerly Geriatrics Today)

Canadian Journal of Geriatrics is the official journal of the Canadian Geriatrics Society.
It is a peer-reviewed medical journal that addresses the information needs of physicians who provide medical care to older Canadians.

Brief History of the Journal

Geriatric medicine and related disciplines relative to the care of older Canadians has expanded rapidly in the later part of the 20th Century. With this expansion came a need for a peer-reviewed journal aimed primarily at medical practitioners, and thus, in 1998, Mature Medicine Canada was born. This peer-reviewed journal included an editorial board comprised of leading healthcare professionals from around the world and published an array of papers focusing on the care of an aging population.

In 2001, with interest from the Canadian Geriatrics Society (CGS), the publication aligned itself with the association and changed its name to Geriatrics Today: Journal of the Canadian Geriatrics Society. The Canadian Gerontological Nursing Association also endorsed the Journal. Building on the foundation of its predecessor, the Journal continues to publish original clinical investigation related to the diverse facets affecting the diseases and care of seniors and the frail elderly.

In 2004, Geriatrics Today was purchased by Kenilworth Media Inc. and in June 2005 it's production was transferred to medical specialty publisher - Andrew John Publishing. Once more the name of the Journal was changed to "Canadian Journal of Geriatrics"

In October 2006, Canadian Journal of Geriatrics was purchased by Geriatrics & Aging. Armed with a new look and continued support from the medical community, the Journal remains committed to publishing original research on the health and care of older adults, particularly older Canadians.
